Tulle-ing around town :)

Hey Sweeties,

a wonderful Monday morning to all of you :)

Am on holiday this week, so this Monday morning could not be better!
And on this beautiful snowy morning I have a fashion confession to make: I love tulle and tutu's, sooooo much! Not because they are so hot and in style right now, I've always adored them because a girl could not feel more fisky, delicate and sexy than when tutu-ing around, wrapped in layers and layers of rich, graceful tulle. Tutu's will also make your waist look smaller and legs thinner and also cover any imperfections around your hips!

Xoxo,
Meelusha

Golden Globes 2011 - Hot vs. Flop

Hey Honeys,

The Golden Globes 2011 brought all the stars and starlets to the red carpet, glowing in satin, tulle, diamonds and crystals, each of them most definitely trying to look ravishing and stunning and earn the best "Fahion Police" reviews...Oh well, like every time, some of them succeeded, while others failed big time... sometimes I'm really wondering if their stylists were high or drunk and why they get paid a fortune to make those stars look bad on such a big night!
I made a very small selection on my top 6 and least 6 faves for this year's event, considering dress design & dress fit with the owner & occasion, while also taking accessories (missing, improper or overdose) and hair into consideration...the whole deal actually, cause sometimes the dress was nice, but I did not fancy the styling or it did not really fit the event.

TOP 6:
Scarlett Johansson in Elie Saab- a 40s goddess blessed  with Elie Saab's fahion magic! Scarlett's got style and wearing a 40s vintage inspired gown was defintely the best choice!
Anne Hathaway in Armani Prive - the amber, shiny glazed dress with an incredibly sexy, open back fitted her like a second skin! Go Anne!
Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace- an emerald crystal dream conquering the traditional black! Green was definitely the "IT" color on the red carpet this year

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa - an extended version of the black swan, totally loved it!
Sandra Bullock in Jenny Packham- shiny in pale pink, the more mature she gets, the more beautiful and stylish she becomes!
Carrie Underwood in Badgley Mishka -  a little blonde angel covered in nude crystals! Simple cut, classy and definitely super hot!

FLOP 6:
Michelle Williams in Valentino - Litlle Miss Daisy was missing an apron and a mop and outfit would have been just right for a perfect housewife!
Halle Berry in Ninna Ricci - great body in a boring and not so flattering dress...
Helena Bonham Carter in Vivienne Westwood - hmmm, what was she thinking??? original is good, dress is interesting and it's got personality...but those shoes - ugly and the hair - too crazy! somehow too much and not fit for the event!

Christina Aguilera in Zuhair Murad - she looks pale, the dress is totally unflattering in the upper part uncovering those chubby arms...and it looks slightly slutty...
Natalie Portman in Viktor & Rolf - from the star of the night we definitely expected much more...the dress is somehow wrong, don't like that rose much, the color does not work well with her skin tone and she should fire her make-up artist!!!
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad- "I'm still Jenny from the block" was the perfect song for her Golden Globe 2011 night...you'd be the prinncess of the block in this dress, dear Jenny, just keep wearing it there only :) the lovely Harry Winston bling does not save the outfit!

Faux Fur Meets Blackbird

Hey honeys,

lately I am totally in love with faux fur and it's simply a must have accesory for me.
I got this faux fur collar from H&M two years ago, but this fall/ winter season I just wore it like crazy...:) I love how it adds a bit of glamour to every simple piece of clothing (dresses, coats, tops), making it special and just fabulous!

The most special piece of the outfit is my unique designer clutch, handmade by the amazingly talentated Gabriela (check out her blog at http://dergabe.blogspot.com/)! I just love the electrifying yellow leather combined with luxurious gold and my all time darlings: beige & brown :)

Meelusha’s Golden Rules for a Responsible Sales Shopping

Dears,

The time has come for our reasonableness, cautiousness, common sense and…already challenged financials (due to playing Santa not so long ago :) ) to be put to a hard test, yes, the Winter Sales have started!!! Uuuuuh, it’s the time of the perfidiously decorated shop windows with the whimsical words “Sales, Rebajas, Saldi, Soldes…”, the carefully arranged shelves and hangers displaying those adorable clothes, that used to cost a lot more and are now emblazoned with magical price cut tags, while you are confronted with the ravishing reality of being able to make so many great deals and own lovely pieces for so much less of an investment…Yes, am getting goose bumps all over already and I just wanna say to myself: Ready, steady, GO! and run off to the mall instantly! Every second I am not in the shops, I kind of feel that amazing deals are slipping thru my fingers…and my heart is racing, am getting restless…
BUT, NO…this year I have set some new golden rules for myself, that I vow to obey and cherish and that will successfully guide me thru this winter’s sales shopping! So here is my credo:

1. Before running off to the mall, raid your closet and refresh your memory with ALL the pieces you own, the ones you actually wear at the moment and the ones that have fallen into anonymity for the past months, but might rise again to become your favorite items someday… You want to buy pieces that match your favorite items and you don’t want to end up buying stuff, that you already have in a more or less similar shape or color.

2. Try to make a list in your mind of what you are looking for, what specific pieces you would actually need to spice up your wardrobe and make new amazing combinations. You don’t want to run clueless thru the mall, with no plan whatsoever, because you’ll just end up buying a lot of stuff you will never really wear, just because the sales were so attractive.

3. Set a budget! Let’s be honest, we’ll go over it for sure, but an approximate limit will still keep things under control!

4. Don’t buy, just because it’s cheap and on sale! You should really like the piece, feel that you would have bought it even at full price and look good in it! If you buy it just for the sake of a great deal, you’ll never or very rarely wear it!

5. Try to get pieces that will either match the coming trends or items that are timeless. Watch out for the S/S 11 trends: 70s styling and patterns everywhere in clothing, shoes & accessories, biker style, maxi and mid calf lengths, earth tones& nudes stay, while rainbow colors come our way, flower & statement-mostly geometrical- prints, playsuits, sheer fabrics.

6. Take your time when you make a buying decision. Don’t rush into anything, if the piece is gone, while you walk around and think the decision thru, it wasn’t meant to be!

7. Make sure to have a nice make-up and hairdo, so that when looking in the mirror, you focus on the clothing on not your bad hair day! When I’m not happy with my hair and makeup, I dislike everything I try on, can’t be really objective and end up buying nothing!

8. Dress comfy and watch out for the shoes! I think dresses or tights and a sweater are ideal. Avoid turtlenecks, too many accessories, too tight pants that you get out of really difficult, you need to be fast and comfortable in the dressing room, or you’ll be stressed and pissed, while also loosing valuable time. In regards to shoes, I would go for UGGs or flat boots up to the knees, as they will look nice will almost everything you’ll try on or at least look neutral.

9. Don’t buy the item if you don’t have something to go with it already in your closet, at least one key piece! You don’t want to buy a piece on sale, that will then force you to buy 5 other items to go with it. You might end up never wearing it, cause it doesn’t go with anything you own or spending money you never meant to or not really needed to spend!

10. Break one of the above rules at most!
Happy Sales Shopping!

Meelusha

Notting Hill - Surreal but Nice

You've probably seen it already, since it's from 1999, I honestly have no clue how I've missed it till today!!! I totally adored this movie and if you haven't seen it, you just have to! If you've seen it, you might wanna review :)

Two beautiful people romancing in my favorite city in the world and in the most beautiful part of it: picturesque Notting Hill <3
The cutest, sometimes goofy, but incredibly sexy and funny William Thacker (Hugh Grant) runs a little, not so successful travel bookshop in lovely London! Divorced not so long ago, he's pretty much recovered and leads a quiet life, working and living in superb Notting Hill, on Portobello Road, in the house with the blue door, with a hilarious and totally out of this world Irish lad as a roommate. Then his quiet life takes an incredible turn, when Anna Scott (Julia Roberts), the ravishing and successful Hollywood actress steps into the little, unsuccessful store and buys a crappy travel book on Turkey...She totally rocks his world from that moment onwards, shaking it up and down and then up and down again and then shaking it a lil' bit more...and from here on, you just have to see it yourself! Enjoy!

Daydreaming about lovely Portobello Road,
